Here's Baby Hourglass. This is a companion quilt for the same family I made this vintage-look quilt for almost two years ago.
The momma-to-be chose Lily & Will by Moda and Penelope Four by Lakehouse Drygoods (in marshmellow) as coordinating fabric lines. Both fat quarter packs were purchased from the Fat Quarter Shop. The baby's gender is unknown and we both feel there is enough blue, enough flowers and enough pink with a hint of green to satisfy either a boy or girl while keeping with the 'vintage' appearance.
The baby's 3 initials will be embroidered in the corner block once we know what they are!
I pieced the back from left over FQ pieces
The quilt finished up at 36" x 42" and I am happy to say that I was just able to make it all the way around with a bias binding made from one FQ of the blue plaid. Such a perfect binding.
The quilt is on it's way home as I type and I'm ready to get going on a few more small commitments (thread catchers and passport holders) before tackling a new quilt project.

Oh Krista this quilt is just lovely!!! Now that our family has a new little one I find myself noticing baby quilts more ;-). I really like the choice of fabrics and it really does have a nice soft vintage look. I'm impressed with how the quilting lines shine on the back. Brilliant.
It definitely belongs in the same household as the first quilt you made, yet they are both so different--perfect! The mom picked really pretty fabrics and I love hourglass patterns. Adding the initials in such a nice touch too.
This is an adorable quilt- the softness of the colour and design is perfect for a new baby! I love the idea of embroidering the initials too!
Beautiful! I love the quilting as well! I am stopping by from the WIP blog hop. I have my WIPs up today if you want to stop by :)http://domesticdeficitdisorder.blogspot.com/2012/09/this-weeks-wips.html
It looks so soft and pretty. Just what you want in a baby quilt!
What lovely soothing colours :o)
Very sweet! I love the quilting.
Lovely quilt Krista! Lucky baby!
I love it. Pretty, peaceful, and playful. But look another moment and it's vibrating with energy and movement. Beautiful composition.
Beautiful baby quilt Krista!
Krista, that is such a sweet baby quilt. I love it. Nice job! I know what you mean about projects. Every time you turn around there's something else.
What a beautiful quilt! You did a very nice job and this baby will get many peaceful naps and nights sleep under it.
This is just beautiful- perfect to welcome a new baby.
This quilt is just so very pretty. I love the colours and fabrics, a wonderful baby quilt.
Mmmm, lovely, lovely!
I know what you mean about not waiting to get things done. When I do, and it happens more often than I care to think about, life happens and we have chaos.
Beautifu., so gentle, it really invites a cuddle and a baby to wrap inside it
Love Baby Hourglass ~ the colors chosen are so dreamy and love the quilting.
