Remember the 80's, when suddenly it was cool to wear green and purple together? I missed the memo, therefore I was not cool. I wore hand-me-down brown cords (worn smooth on the thighs by their previous owner) and a Fonzie t-shirt. On average 3 times/week. I'm sure my mother was mortified, but I don't remember her saying anything about it.
Anyhoo, enough about my fashion revelations, here is a cute fabric basket that I made for a birthday gift. D's friend requested candy. And lots of it. One needs something pretty to present the candy in, right? This sweet fabric basket was made using Ayumi's ace tutorial over at Pink Penguin out of Central Park and Farmer's Market fabrics.
I still had a roll of cellowrap leftover from school auction baskets last year, so we decided to go all out with some tissue lining as well.
Rumour has it the birthday girl received a year's worth of candy. Maybe we all should have thrown in a few bucks for the dentist!

Fancy basket! I bet her parents were *really* pleased with all that candy!
I think your Fonzie/cords combo sounds pretty rad, but for now, not the 80s, when I was busy wearing hand-me-downs and a school uniform. I *still* can't wear anything resembling a kilt.
What a great gift! I like the basket very much. Thank you for sharing tonight.
Very sweet basket for a candy loving girl!
Fab gift!
What a cute little basket - do we have a pic of mini-Poppy in that outfit perchance?
Super cute basket. Your story makes me feel a need to share...Lily is currently wearing grey and pink striped leggings and a pink shirt with a sparkly silver horse on the front every other day, the second it comes out of the laundry. People must think that she doesn't have any other clothes!
What a lovely fabric basket! But it looks more like a few days worth of candy to me :D
Very cute!! I missed out on those fun color combinations as I was firmly planted in school uniforms or sports uniforms most of my growing up years.
Jennifer :)
I'm with Lynn - would love to see a photog of you in your cords and T!! Cute basket and a nice gift. D must be on the list of "girls to invite who bring great gifts" she is lucky indeed to have such a talented Mom!
That basket was my mass produced Christmas gift last year.
Love it! You are so stinkin' awesome with color! I am still waiting for a predominantly deep purple/limey green fabric line. Apparently, this is yet another indication that I'm stuck in the 80s. jeez, nigel! (that's my new catch phrase, like it?)☺
Haha! I love this post. Fashion revelations and candy and all. Oh, and everytime anyone mentions or uses farmers market in anything it makes me love them more. So, you've moved up another level, fyi.
