Wanna know something so awesome? When I clicked on 'edit in picnik', those of you familiar with flickr and picnik know that these little turning cogs come up on your screen while your photo loads in the editing program. Along with the cogs, the smartypants picnik people always put silly little excuses for why the program takes time to load; things like "setting the table....", or "picking daisies..." Well, this time, and I kid you not, when I clicked to crop this photo of the blocks, it said "carving pumpkins..."
I might have snorted.
If you're in the mood to stitch up some quick improv pumpkins, Kaelin just posted a sweet tutorial for a log cabin pumpkin table runner here. I'm done stitching up the squash, now I'm going to roast one. I love making pumpkin pie from roasted sugar pumpkin and there is always lots leftover for a batch of muffins, too.
It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. There will be pumpkin pie!

I really like the pumpkins! And I even have orange scraps...hmmmmm. Thanks for linking to the tutorial. And funny about Piknik. I have never used the program but think I should try. Do you recommend it? I usually use picasa and am not always happy with the editing that it does. Is Piknik free?

Mmm... nothing beats pumpkin pie (or in our house pumpkin squares) made from a fresh pumpkin. Leftover pumpkin also goes great in pancakes - with walnuts too!
I really like these pumpkin blocks I keep seeing around in blogtopia! They're on the to do list. But seeing as I just put my foot down and decided I'll be a lazy cow this weekend I don't see any in my near future ;-)

Pumpkin is one of my favourite vegetables. We eat it steamed, mashed or roasted. Our main varieties are Jap, Kent and Butternut. We don't usually have the large orange pumpkins found at Halloween, which is not usually celebrated here, although the shops try to. Australians don't really 'get' pumkin pie, although pumpkin scones are incredibly tasty. I love your pumpkins - they are good for everyone.

I'm doing an online swap with Mary Lou Weidman's yahoo group. We are exchanging pumpkins and gourds. I just posted mine so should hopefully get them back in time to make a fun quilt for fall. We are sending 12 of each type so we end up with 24 blocks altogether.
Some of the colours are very wild. Check out her new Out of the Box pattern book for more inspiration.
