Snowblossoms

Here are all of my snowblossom blocks. Seven of these are for other members of the Quilting Divas (mini) Sampler Bee. In this bee, we all make the same block for the other bee members, but each person set their own colours + one Kona solid background. I requested jewel tones plus any shade of Kona grey (I made myself the block that is second from the right on the bottom row).

Snowblossoms (pattern by Marcia Hohn) made by Poppyprint

I like this bee because it's all wrapped up in a month! These blocks were super fun to make once I got the size organized (they needed to end up 12 1/2"). There is a lot of fussy cutting in these blocks (check out the Eiffel Towers!) which is a terrible waste of fabric, but so much fun!

For a closer look at any of the blocks, click on the mosaic and you'll end up on my Flickr photostream where there is a close up of each individual one. You can find the foundation patterns here, thanks to Marcia Hohn of the Quilter's Cache!

Unlike everywhere else in North America, Vancouver is completely devoid of snow (except for up on the local mountains). In fact, the Snow Drops have bloomed in my front yard and my hellebore isn't far behind! You lucky Texans!

These are amazing, Krista! I'm drawn to the yellow and grey colour scheme. It took me a minute to find the light blue Eiffel Towers in the corners of two of the blocks but when I did see them, I loved them (the fussy cutting was definitely worth it)! I'm glad you made one for yourself!

Loving the blocks! We are being hit hard here in Texas this year. Bet we have record snow fall. I grew up in Dallas and we have never in my life had so many snow storms in one winter.

This is such a great block, and the way you've fussy cut the details of the various fabrics in there is wonderful! If I were to pick a favourite, it would be a toss up between both blocks that contain orange: the second and fourth in the top row... I guess I suddenly like orange! Hmm...

Such a beautiful block, and I like the color combinations too. I'm just starting to like orange again too. (When I was about 13 years old I loved orange and I painted my room a pretty bright orange and I loved it, especially when the sun was setting. That's a fun memory.)

Wow! Love these blocks Krista and the fussy cutting in the center of the blocks is as lovely as the towers! Can't wait to see yours in person!

So so pretty. No snow at my house either. How is it that former winter olympic towns are totally being missed by beautiful winter snow! I think I'm going to write a letter to someone to complain. I can't wait to see your blocks all together!

OK I felt so bad about my "comedy" comments that have been nagging at my conscience that had to come back pathetically on my hands and knees and say that I love these blocks, I think they might be my favourite blocks of all time, I love how you've used and fussy cut fabrics to make a traditional block look modern, I love how clever you are with pattern and shape and colour. And I don't love how sometimes I think I am hilarious and it comes off as rude. So here is the comment I wish I'd left!
