Cryptic Valentines

B and I have been married more than 15 years. Saying "I love you" is second nature at this point, so I decided to have some fun with my Valentines this year, inspired by the Sew Mama Sew featured tutorial on fabric Valentines with envelopes.

I think my entry was too late last night for the contest, but I had to take a sewing break to watch the Opening Ceremonies....wasn't K.D. Lang incredible??? And...I never thought I'd see a slam poet totally rock at the world's largest sporting event!! Oh! And Measha Brueggergosman's hair - that was hair of Olympic proportion for sure!!! She's amazing! There was so much I loved about last night, and a few things that made me go 'hmmm?" - punk/grunge fiddling, for example.

Ok, my Olympic moment is over. Here are the cards I made for my family. (ahem, and if you are my family and it is before Valentines Day, please close this window and wait 'till tomorrow!).

Can you guess what each one is?

For B (because the view when he leaves a room is just as spectacular as when he enters, if you know what I mean, nudge-nudge, wink-wink):

buns

For my son T (because he is just so unbelievably clever):

brain

For my daughter D (because she never quits, slows down, or stops smiling):

energy

I also made one for my sister-in-law (based on an Egg Press greeting card image)

birdie

Eat chocolate and be happy tomorrow!!

Very cute envelopes and cards. What a terrific idea, how can you not love getting one of these?

Made with love...says it all!! And I'm sure hoping B is your husband!! ha ha
I totally agree on EVERYTHING about the Olympics....and the tap dancing punk rockers...where did that come from?? AND they were on stage for so long...are they from Newfoundland? or from some planet that briefly touched down... YIKES!!
But the rest...LOVED IT!!

Really cute cards! Ashley MacIssac maybe a little off the wall, but he is one incredibly amazing fiddler! (of course, that's my Nova Scotian blood coming through, and its hard to be from NS and not love fiddling!)

I thought the Opening Ceremonies were amazing. I really enjoyed all the native drumming at the beginning ;)

I totally love k.d. lang - I was so excited to see her there. And the Slam poet was fabulous!!

You certainly worked hard to get those valentine cards ready on time. Love the heart/beaver fabric!

Loved the opening ceremonies, the whales just thrilled me! The opening snowboarder on the mountain peak, breathtaking. Love kd lang's voice, it was all wonderful. And best of all, I learned SO much about Canada that I didn't know, even though I have relatives in Ontario.

Your love letters are beyond precious, Krista. And I think they deserve to live in a shadowbox once everyone is done showing them off and admiring them. They are little works of art!
