Presto. One fabric basket featuring the divine guitar (or is it Ukelele?) print from Heather Ross' FFAIII line, Ty Penningtons woodblock in grey and Mrs. March's Collection Modern Style for Lecien as the lining.
They are in French Immersion class, after all. Had to throw in some Paris! There is even sheet music printed in the background of the print.
And here it is filled with cavities.
These fabric baskets make up in a jiffy (in fact, I almost had it complete in the time it took for D and her friend to walk to the candy store and back!). They are perfect for gift giving...fill them with French milled soaps for a girlfriend, home-baked cookies for a neighbour or teacher, or you know, candy for the discerning 12 year old sweet tooth on your list. Easy peasy tutorial here thanks to Ayumi. You'll see that I substituted two 3.5" x 9.5" pieces of guitar fabric instead of the pieced panels, and sped things up by using fusible fleece for the batting.
The gift-making continues here in Poppyprint-land.....

Krista this is a very good idea! Thanks for sharing.
I love that idea! And the tutorial is great as well. What a lucky boy to receive such a thoughtful and yummy gift!

Lovely bag, for sure!!
Btw, have you heard of:

They have a wip link list and are looking for Canadian fibre artists - that would be you. :)
Oh cool! And thanks for naming that lining print, I recognise it as being what I received in a kit for a purse recently and I love it. Which no doubt means that it is long gone from the shelves of fabric shops worldwide...
Super smashing great!
I completely remember reading about the last time one of her friends requested an all candy gift! I am sure her partner will be thrilled.
That fabric basket is a sure fire winner every time. Love it!
I would love that basket! Minus the cavities of course. :)
Love it! Great gift for a guitar-loving preteen :)
I love those little baskets, yours is so cute, and the candy looks good too.
Turned out great and it might just be the perfect substitute for the market totes (figured I dont have enough time and fabric). Do you have another idea how to fill these for "older" guys (not my husband)?
You are the best mom, Krista! And thanks for the reminder about Ayumi's great tutorial, I'm in the market for a couple of teacher presents.
love the basket! love it!
Ha! A basket filled with cavities- very clever! Love the basket!
Perfect for a sugar rush- just what any 12 yr old needs!
Super cute. Could be just what I need for the teacher Chrissie presents. That Ayumi is so clever, she has great little tutes. Love your fabric selection too - this is what makes handmade gifts so awesome!
this is a great idea for a gift! the basket and goodies can be totally personalized for the recipeint!
Super sweet gift! D is a lucky girl to have such a talented Mom.
I don't know why that is, but your fabric baskets always look exceptionally well-made! It's hard to believe you used my tute, haha!
I need to make some of those baskets. This one is cute.
