Rearranging

Last post you read a little about Operation Grandma and Grandpa visit. I am pretty proud of our efforts to get ready for their stay, so I thought I'd share a little of what went on here. Our spare bed is really a pull out sofa in the family room (the only room with a TV in our house). Since my parents are visiting for 3 weeks, we felt they really should have a room with a door for privacy and proper bed to sleep on!  A plan to clear out my sewing room was put in motion, with D enthusiastically embracing the project and suggesting that after the visit, she could move her bedroom downstairs and I could re-establish my sewing room upstairs in her tiny bedroom. Alas, her 17.5 sq. ft. gain is my loss.

First order of business was to set up a temporary sewing station in the family room. Ta dah!

Temporary sewing station

Might as well decorate while I'm here, right?

Temporary sewing space

I moved all my rolling plastic drawer carts under the stairs in the playroom and left my fabric shelves, design wall and doll quilts on the wall for now.  I sort of stalled at this point and had to bring in my husband for the final push (no emotional attachment = easy ditching of crap). He packed up all my batting into a huge Rubbermaid bin for relocation to the crawl space; the table was dismantled and went into storage, too.

Slow going

Finally, a full 24 hours in advance of G&G's arrival, we had a bedroom!

Complete with quilt gallery!

Posts may be sporadic over the next three weeks......hope you're all working on fun projects!

Sometimes the changes we make for visitors can become permanent - I hope you settle into your new work space and that your parents have a great time with you all ;o)

That was a really quick transformation! I think the quilts on the wall make the "guest" room so cozy and inviting. I am sure they will really enjoy their stay resting comfortably in that room :)

I'm about to do a similar transformation at my place - turning the sewing room into a bedroom and then back again. Not 100% looking forward to confronting my stash or my large number of works in progress, but it has to be done.
