Happy Sew Luckiest

My lovely, local, crafty galpal Berene (who blogs at HappySewLucky) is currently enjoying a summer Christmas in Australia with her family. If she hadn't doorbell-dropped the most incredible early gift for me on the day they flew out, I might be jealous. Who could be jealous of Christmas in Sydney when they've got this one-of-a-kind tea towel hanging in their kitchen?

Featherweight tea towel from Berene

Last month I spent a few days working with Berene and other members of our community on a very special project that you can read about here.  I took Agatha, my Featherweight, along because it's so portable and just can't be beat for straight piecing.  Berene took this photo of me (below), which I love.

Poppyprint in action

I guess that gave her the inspiration for my tea towel.  She's been doing quite a bit of hand-printing lately, having participated in a great flickr swap.  The Featherweight was printed using a hand-cut freezer paper stencil and the towel hem was lovingly embellished with running stitches.  I'm really in awe of Berene's design talent. The apple has certainly fallen close to the tree at her house - check out this awesome video tutorial that her son made for an easy printing technique onto t-shirts!

I'm Happy and Sew Lucky to have many creative and generous friends in my life.

I think I'll go wash some dishes.

Awesome tea towel!!

Hey, I'm curious, did your Singer get converted to electric or was it always? My old singer is a treadle which makes me reluctant to try to use it and I often wonder about the whole converting to electric idea.

i have some of the same questions about agatha! is she an oldie or a newer machine? i want one!

i also have an old treadle and am scared to even try use it, but i bet it would be fantastic for finishing a quilt.

I clicked through to the post about making the quilt - such a gorgeous quilt and wonderful photos of everyone pulling together and then the finished quilt. Warmed the cockles of my heart. X

That is so gorgeous it would be on my wall not on the towel rack. Bloggy friends are just so cool - they give the best presents!
