Valentine Fabric Love - a giveaway

A recent IG conversation went something like this:

Aussie friend of mine: Hey Krista, does Canada celebrate Valentines Day like they do in the U.S.?
Poppyprint: Yes, but to most husbands it is a bit of a non-issue {note: THIS IS A GENERAL OBSERVATION WITH NO PARTICULAR HUSBAND IN MIND}
Aussie friend: Lolololololol, same!
Other Aussie friend: funny about that. Same here (crying emoji)
Poppyprint: It's a global crisis
Other Aussie friend: maybe we should just go out and buy our own diamonds. I think they would learn pretty quickly then.

Well, I don't know about you, but I just want more fabric. I hardly ever bother putting my diamonds on.

With this in mind, my lovely blog partner Fabric Please! has generously offered to gift one lucky reader a sweet Valentine of $40 Cdn to spend on anything in their shop!

Might I suggest this lovely Kate Spain Aria charm pack:

These Free Spirit Fowl Play dots are super fun (and on sale!)

This is a blog follower's giveaway because I love you guys for sticking with me.  Leave one comment here (maybe you'd like to share a sweet Valentine story with us?) to enter the giveaway. I'll choose a random winner on Friday, February 12. Just in time to buy yourself something special for the big day. Good luck!

**YOUR EMAIL MUST BE LINKED TO YOUR COMMENT, OR YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS APPEAR IN YOUR COMMENT IN ORDER TO WIN**
I don't use the email address for any reason other than alerting giveaway winners that they've won. Sorry, but if I cannot contact you, you cannot win. (ETA - comments are now closed).

In the meantime, you may be interested in knowing that Fabric Please! is celebrating one full year in business with a month long sale running now until Feb.26th, 2016. With code ANNIVERSARY you'll receive 30% off all regularly priced yardage. This is a great sale!

Here's another of my homemade, hand-stitched valentines. This one was for my daughter, D (former circus athlete, current energizer bunny).

An embroidered Valentine that I made for my daughter several years ago.

  2. One time, the first year we were married, my husband picked me a bouquet of wildflowers...but it couldnt have been valentines day, I suppose, being February...that was 35 years ago.

  3. I would love to win! I think this year we'll be happy with take away food delivered to the door (instead of a meal out!), because we've got a three month old, a three year old and a four year old! emilyste7ens at gmail dot com

  4. Hi from over in Maple Ridge. My husband and I don't do anything for Valentine's Day. We say every day is Valentine's Day. Awwww.

  5. I'm not big on Valentine's Day. To me it's just another Hallmark holiday. But I would never turn down the gift of fabric. Or diamonds.

  6. My birthday is in February so heart themed cards are a regular occurrence. A friend of mine's birthday is Valentine's Dat as was her first marriage...I wonder if he remembered her two special days? They are no longer a couple so maybe not. But she got a great son as a result.

  7. We don't fuss about Valentine's Day, but as an excuse for fabric, well I can get behind that!

  8. We will have a nice quiet dinner at home. Thank you for the generous giveaway and the chance to win.

  9. I don't have diamonds or want diamonds, but fabric is ALWAYS welcome. Since we now have our 14 month old grandson living with us more than half the time, I would just like to sleep in two mornings in a row.

  10. So Mark and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, but two years ago he took me to a hamburger joint he had heard about. No indoor seating--thankfully we usually have fairly mild weather even though it's the middle of February. We each ordered our burgers, fries and shakes (for a whopping $12), found our table, and he pulled a small candle out of his pocket, lit it and we ate our hamburgers by candlelight. So last year on Valentine's Day, we went back, and the same girl was taking orders at the window. She said she had been telling people about us (and eating by candlelight)and was hoping we would come back. So I guess now it's a tradition.

  11. No celebrating here. I got tired of being the one to do it all, so now it's just another day. Sad. Maybe some new fabric would be the cure? Thanks for the chance.

  12. We try to make all the foods we eat that day, into heart shapes...pancakes, sandwiches, red peppers etc thanks for the chance! Cathy

  13. We don't celebrate valentine's day, aside from our boys handing valentine's cards out to their classes. My honey often feels guilty for not doing something "special" for me, but I really have never had much interest in that kind of thing. Thanks for the chance to win

  19. No Valentine's Day celebrations over here...we generally even forget it's the 14th as my daughter's b'day is the 16th so we're all focused on that. Not that it bothers me - the last thing I need is more chocolate!

  22. My husband I don't celebrate it. It was my refusal to acknowledge the day, when we were courting, that sealed my husband's love. However, I have always done something small for each of my three daughters and now that I have heard the siren call of stitching and fabrics and quilting and sewing, I make something for each of them. This year I made stuffed hearts with pretty fabrics to hang from their bedroom doors. If I win this lottery, I will save the fabric for next year's V. Day project. Fingers crossed. Happy stitching everyone!!

  26. As a former Grade 1 and 2 teacher, Valentine's Day was always a very important time in the classroom for expressing friendship. Now that I am retired I miss the love of February among young children. I guess my husband, children and grandson are my only valentines now. No one could ask for better. Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours.

  39. My husband is one of those for which Valentine's day is a non-event. That's really fine with me because I'm not that into jewelry or flowers. But last year he surprised me with a bundle of fabric that he had picked out himself at a quilt shop while on a business trip. It was a nice surprise, totally out of the blue. And it turns out he has pretty good taste in fabric.

  42. My husband, who is allergic to anything even remotely romantic, calls Valentine's Day, "Red" Day. O-kay.. About every third or fourth year he apparently remembers it is an occasion and he shows up with lobster for our supper- because it is red and in his mind it is appropriate Red Day food. All fine because I can eat lobster 24/7.

Enjoying the little thoughtful moments in life everyday such as wRming my car in the morning, doing dishes, etc. We don't need one specific day to be reminded of of live.
