Ninja Pocket

Hopefully you are not too tired of seeing 241 Bags here. I just can't stop making them! Last weekend I taught a workshop for my traditional guild. I prepared all of the pattern pieces so that I was set for demonstrating various stages in the bag construction.

This time I decided to go all out and purchase some of Melody Miller's typewriter fabric. I already had the perfect lining with Lu Summer's 'Summersville' alphabet print in aqua! The side panels are a Japanese linen blend graphic print by Ellen Luckett Baker for Kokka called 'Stamped'. The side pockets are lined with Lizzy House pearl bracelets in swiss chard - a delicious bright green.

I decided to combine both versions of Anna's pattern and include side pockets, plus one zipper pocket (many of the workshop participants did the same). Check out my ninja pocket placement: 

I like a jazzy pocket lining!

I like to use my Pfaff's triple stitch for topstitching whenever possible (great for pouches). It results in a great stand-out stitch - I used it along the top edge of the side pockets. It's tricky when going around curves or over bulky seam allowances, so this is the only spot I used it on this bag. On the photo below you can see the difference when comparing the single stitch around the top edge of the bag and center panel.

That's a bit of photo overload, but these fabrics are so fun to shoot and I am enjoying using the new macro lens that B gave me for Christmas!  For that, I'm linking up with Friday's Felicities!
